My cat has been vamped!

It explains a lot.

As I actually managed to write down what happened yesterday, I suppose I had better type it up!

A suprisingly long post by my standards follows within )
I think that was more or less it.

RIP Sir Patrick Moore.

I share that sentiment with a post about my cat, but I'm sure, as a cat lover himself, he won't mind.

So I think little Tegan is having seizures.

I came home from work a few weeks ago (09/11/2012?) and found her scrabbling manically on the wooden floor by my bed. I picked her up and comforted her until she calmed down as her breaths were rapid and she was panting. She'd also wet herself resulting in me having to wash my duvet. :/ Back then I wondered if it had been a fit or if I had somehow startled her and launched her into a full panic attack. She's very nervous, so that wasn't a stretch. As she seemed okay after that, I resolved to wait and see.

But she had another attack on Friday morning. I was woken way too early by her scrabbling on the floor again, this time in my hallway. Same thing happened. More panting and shuddering and she ended up splayed out in her own pee as if her back end had just given up. I propped her up and her legs seemed fine, so I washed her up and she seemed okay after that, demanding food. But as this was a repeat I took her to the vets asap.

They didn't have a clue, so as she is otherwise fine and not poorly we are treating her for a possible ear infection - working on the hypothesis that because she already has neurological problems that affect her balance and gait, that she might have lost her balance while scratching her ear (which she does a lot) and triggered a panic attack. It's a much cheaper route than doing an MRI scan for epilepsy, but somehow, given her history and the nature of the attacks, I think epilepsy or something is more likely.

Looks like I'll bathing her in the middle of the night again in the future. :(

On a cheerier note, here's a nice pic of her:

Ah. Somebody remind me never to complete re-design my website again. nearly 200 pages is just too much to re-do! Ouchy fingers and still a load to go!

Oh well watch Tegan listening to the new 80s Matchbox B-Line Disaster album instead. Everyone is a critic it seems.

Still no sign of the cat.

There's a little food out, a cushion cover I don't mind losing and a box. I've spoken to the local busibodies, kids and the dog walkers. There's signs up in the park.

I've walked miles today searching the park and the trees; all the places I can think of.

When I get the energy I'm going to sprinkle some of her litter on the grass outside.

I'm exhausted, not eating, and still catless.

I think I've lost my cat. And it's my fault.

I've just spent the last hour searching. She's an indoor cat but she likes looking out of the window. Because she's wobbly on her legs and I live in a first (i.e. not ground) floor flat I have a grill that fits across the window when it's open. Tonight I forgot to fit the grill. I was woken my the sound of a fox barking and there she is sitting on the grass below my window. I get my clothes on and rush down there and she's gone. I can't find her anywhere and there's at least two foxes out there.

She's shy and never been outside. I'm worried sick.

I need sleep so much, but she's out there and lost and might be injured.

Dear Cat,

You're very cute and everything, but I am not a trampoline.

This is especially true at 2 am and at times when I'm not feeling well in the stomach region.

Please refrain from bouncing tonight and I might see about giving you some of that dried food you like in the morning.

Regards

Boggy

P.S. No, you can't have a third dinner.

P.P.S. And leave that wallpaper alone!

Was looking forward to a lovely lunch at the Chinese buffet with the parents today, damn it.

One of my parent's cats (their much loved 14 year old tabby, whom I consider my cat too) had a funny turn this morning, all wobbly legs and dry retching. So instead of nice yummy food, it was a trip to the emergency vets with fears of strokes or poisoning. My mum was panicing a bit, I think.

She's okay. The vet checked her over for spinal injuries and stroke symtoms. I have never seen a cat have their blood pressure taken before, the little wrappy thing was so cute! Cat didn't think much of it though.

Oh the irony, she has an ear infection and this morning her eardrum ruptured, poor girl; she has no balance. Must run in the family.

She's flopped her way up the stairs to her warm quiet spot now. I'm just getting a sandwich...
