Staycation

So, I had a week off work. I was meant to go to Bath with my mum, but my dodgy knee basically scuppered that. So a staycation it was.

Was it productive? Not really. But I did go shopping, re-watched a season and a half of Roswell, finally had the doctors appointment for the dodgy knee (it only took two months of agony - I'm that good at procrastinating), was referred for physiotherapy and bought a fridge (hence tomorrow is an extra day off for me! Maybe I will get all the writing I had planned done...).

Also, on Saturday I attended the St Albans Crown Court Open Day. Whoo. I couldn't take any pictures, but I can now say I have been in a prison van and in court and in a cell block. Without the messy getting arrested part. it's a shame the mock court case was a sentencing for a minor drinking driving charge and not a juicy murder, but you can't have everything.

That armed siege in Watford today, was at my bank! Not that I ever go in there (I think I've been in twice), but still, my branch, of my bank.

I did wonder if it was still open.

So that police tape incident I mentioned a couple of days ago? I found out what happened.

Turns out it wasn't a boring break in as surmised. Nor was it a grisly murder of a marine or air cadet, but it was close! It was a stabbing!

I probably heard it, but as I was trying to tune out the row, I don't think I heard anything at all useful.

This might not be the nicest area ever, but it's never been stabbings bad. In an interesting side note, the villain of the piece is from the road next to where we found the cat.

I woke this morning to find a section of the park 100 yards (if that) behind my flat sectioned off with Police tape and watched over by a patrol car.

There doesn't seem to be a lot of activity though. As it's surrounding a temporary cabin belonging to some workmen though, I'm thinking more break in than grisly murder scene.

Still, it's excitement of a sort!

Don't worry the world is now safe from the alien flower pollen, Rose and I (Amy Pond) have just helped the Doctor rid the world of that threat. It was a bit hairy for a bit for me, the pollen got me and I died! But Rose fixed me with the sonic screwdriver and I was okay!

(Yes, I have been playing Doctor Who with the friend's nippers. The red hair automatically makes me Amy)

A life long pre-occupation with death, the recent plane crash in the Atlantic and a really imminent long haul plane journey are not good for my head. Plus my friend has my cat so I have her to fret about too. :(

What this means is that I'm off to Toronto tomorrow. I don't know when I'll have internet access again, so I'll see you all soon!

Probably...

An hour ago i very nearly became an ex-bogwitch.

Only my super-fast witchy reflexes avoided a head on collision with someone overtaking a cyclist on a fast B road. I swerved up the foot high verge doing about 50mph and he took off my wing mirror and ploughed into the back end of my car. The cyclist buggered off without leaving their details.

I suppose we're both lucky we're alive and unijured, but my car is feeling a bit sad and wounded. :(

Does anyone know what the owls want, or is it just me they're after?

Coincidences are a part of life, but I going to start logging these, I swear. In the last few months all sorts of these coincidences keep happening to me - far more often than normal. I can't remember any just off the top my head, but I have people who will vouch for them.

So tonight I nearly missed Ashes to Ashes. Now, I don't watch a lot of TV and following a series other than by watching them online requires me to keep tabs on the time (which I'm very bad at), nothing unusual there. So today I was larking around in Paint Shop Pro and I lost track of what time it was, then what should come up randomly on my Media Player at exactly 9.00? The Human League - Love Action. Ooh, I thought, the 80's are reminding me to watch, cool! That was weird enough.

And then what song was in Ashes to Ashes tonight?

Yep.

What does this all mean?

ETA: Ooh! ooh! We had a conversation at work yesterday about Shakin' Stevens too! Can't say I've had many of those in my life.
